CCN’s September 19th Hero is Elizabeth!
At age 13 Elizabeth was a dancer and dancing was her life! She started having pain in her hip and thought at the time that it was an injury from dance. At the time pain from dance was just part of being a dancer but this pain increased and got worse. After going to the doctor and having an MRI a tumor was discovered in her hip and she was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma. This diagnosis lead to having her left hip removed. Even though this devastating diagnosis has taken dance out of her life, Elizabeth who is now 15, has a great attitude. She feels blessed and has a strong faith. She loves to help and inspire others. Someday she would like to start her own cosmetic line and she enjoys teaching others how to put on makeup. With her cosmetic line she wants to give back and hopes to donate some of her proceeds to childhood cancer research. She likes to tell other cancer survivors, “Keep on going. It may seem hard but remember, you are still breathing, and it’s not over yet!”
