2012 Grand Canyon University’s Run to Fight Children’s Cancer

Grand Canyon University’s “Run to Fight Children’s Cancer – Spring Edition” brought more than 3000 people to campus on March 10, 2012 to participate in a fun day to support Arizona families dealing with childhood cancer. Our sincere thanks to Grand Canyon University for organizing such a memorable event and their continued support to fight children’s cancer. Their generous $40,000 donation to fund Children’s Cancer Network programs will reach many deserving children and families.

Fashion Show, Auction and Luncheon

The “Twist and Shout!” Ninth Annual Fashion Show, Auction and Luncheon brought back the best of the 50’s for 850 guests at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa on Sunday, March 4, 2012. From the antique car at the entrance to the rockin’ music inside, it was clear this would be a memorable afternoon!

Cardon Children’s Medical Center Library Cart |
A bright red library cart filled with 115 assorted books was recently donated to Cardon Children’s Medical Center. While being maintained in the main hospital library, the cart will regularly be wheeled up to the pediatric oncology unit to be used by staff, parents and, of course, the children. From storybooks to reference books on a variety of topics concerning childhood cancer issues, this mobile library has something of interest for everyone and will continue to grow.

Services expanded to University of Arizona Medical Center |
Beginning in October, Children’s Cancer Network has expanded its services at University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. Gas cards, cafeteria vouchers, and Children’s Cancer Network Wellness Journals will be available to families being treated in the pediatric oncology unit. Collaborating with healthcare providers throughout Arizona allows us to reach even more families in need.

Phoenix Sun’s Charities $5000 Grant |
Children’s Cancer Network is the proud recipient of a $5000 Phoenix Sun’s Charities Grant to support our 2012 Admission Bag Program for families with a child who has been newly diagnosed with cancer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Cardon Children’s Medical Center, and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center.

2011 John W. Luttrell Scholarship Winners |
Congratulations to our eight 2011 John W. Luttrell Scholarship winners! Children’s Cancer Network awarded $11,250 in scholarships to childhood cancer survivors and family members to aid them in the pursuit of higher education and the realization of their dreams in life. All are very deserving of this recognition, and we wish them the best of luck in their endeavors.

Esurance recognized Children’s Cancer Network with a $2500 Grant for 2011. Their local Gilbert branch chose a list of qualifying organizations in the area and let employees vote for their winner. We are honored to receive this unexpected contribution and will direct these funds to programs benefiting our families. |

2011 Fashion Show, Auction and Luncheon |
Over 770 guests enjoyed "The Greatest Show on Earth" on March 6, 2011 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Our eighth annual Fashion Show, Auction and Luncheon was a huge success with the ringmaster, clowns, Arizona Cardinals, and of course, our adorable models, all starring in the center ring.

The Children’s Cancer Network Jewelry
Making and selling the charm depicting Children’s Cancer Network’s logo helps us raise program funds and bring awareness to our cause. The debut of the jewelry was at the Survivorship Conference held in September 2007. The bracelets and necklaces are also sold at the annual Fashion Show, Auction and Luncheon in February.
